Claris Design•Build is excited to share the latest progress on the new Mercedes-Benz dealership in Danbury, owned by Curry Automotive. Over the past three months, our dedicated team has achieved several key milestones, moving us closer to completing this impressive facility. Here’s an in-depth look at our recent accomplishments and the next steps in the project.
Exciting Developments in Construction Progress
Our team began concentrating on exterior framing and sheathing, which are critical steps to close up the building and protect it from the elements. We are also in the process of installing a water-resistive air barrier membrane, commonly known as "blue skin."
The blue skin is a self-adhered membrane that is both water and air resistant, offering protection to the exterior wall assembly while allowing outward passage of water vapors. This prevents condensation buildup within the exterior wall. When installing the blueskin, it is crucial to carefully address certain areas: any penetrations, window and door openings, and transitions between different substrate materials.
A key feature of the new dealership is the service drive-through area, where customers will conveniently drop off their cars for maintenance. This drive-through will streamline the service process, allowing customers to enter, meet with a service advisor, and leave their vehicles with confidence.
Inside, we are preparing to install 17 underground lifts, 2 van lifts, and an alignment rack to support efficient and high-quality service operations, further enhancing the customer experience. Our team prepared to pour the slab in the following two weeks, marking another significant milestone in the project.
The dealership is designed with customer comfort and convenience in mind. The ground floor will feature a welcoming area for customers to meet with service advisors. Adjacent to this, there will be a customer lounge equipped with amenities and a private bathroom, ensuring a pleasant and relaxing experience while they wait. The general manager’s office, sales offices, and showroom will also be located on this floor, facilitating smooth and efficient operations.
Upstairs, the mezzanine level will house the employee area, including a conference room, break room with a kitchenette, and additional office spaces. This design prioritizes employee comfort and productivity. Additionally, the second floor will provide ample parking for the dealership's inventory, with a dedicated vehicle entrance ramp and a spacious parking deck, ensuring that vehicles are securely stored and easily accessible.

During the tour of the ground floor's customer lounge, Marissa Fusco, Marketing Manager of Claris Design•Build, shared her thoughts on the dealership’s design.
"This is giving us a great perspective from the customer's point of view upon entrance to the dealership," Marissa remarked while discussing the layout with Nick Mastracchio, the on-site superintendent.
